Will your marmalade tour to England in 2012 for the Test against England or an English Village XI ??
First marmalade entries arrive for Australia's MarmalAshes defence - more needed as England, stung by their loss, prepare.
At the Buninyong Farmers Market, locals June Henderson (above) and Lyn Fleming show the first marmalade entry received, from WA, for selection in the Australian XI in the Buninyong Marmalade Fair. While these Canadian tourists might not be eligible, their Buninyong-based daughter can also enter for the Buninyong Village XI.
A parcel from Perth, WA, containing two jars of special marmalade made in the "land of sweet oranges" is the first entry in Australia's MarmalAshes defence.
"There have also been some local entries as well as interest from New South Wales and South Australia but, surprisingly, none from Queensland or Tasmania as yet" said June Henderson and Lyn Fleming who were manning the Buninyong Marvellous Marmalade Fair stand at the recent Farmers Market. At the Fair, to be held on Sunday 5th February at the Buninyong Town Hall, the Selectors and CWA judges will select the Australian XI and the Buninyong Village XI to tour to England up against the England XI and an English Village XI respectively.
