Buninyong Joint Library Trust
The Buninyong Joint Library Trust (BJLT) is an incorporated body set up in 1997 to manage the restoration and preservation of the Old Buninyong Library.
The Trust works closely with both the Buninyong and District Historical Society and the Buninyong Cemtery Trust, holding many valuable historical records which are on display on the Reading Room.
An important part of its role is to administer the Buninyong Information Centre which is based in the Reading Room of the Old Library, with assistance from the Ballarat Tourist Office which supplies a range of Visitor Information. The Trust derives its income from renting the adjoining rooms, currently occupied by Buinyong Books, supplemented by occasional grants and donations.
Purpose of the Trust (from the legal Statement of Purpose)
The Trust exists primarily for the purpose of maintaining and administering the former Buninyong Free Library on behalf of the Buninyong community, with due regard for the architectural and historical significance of the building.
